Flight Noumea

Noumea, an object of desire

New Caledonia’s capital is a vibrant and lively city. Overlooking the lagoon and butting up against a hill side, it offers a plethora of activities, man-made enticements, shopping venues and cultural outings. Nouméa is resolutely strong-tempered, and it masterfully beats the pulse of cosmopolitanism.

The essential

Small yet powerful, New Caledonia’s capital concentrates an exciting array of things to do, foods to taste, places to go and sites to visit. Several museums, scattered across the city, will undoubtedly stimulate your curiosity and help you better understand the historical past of New Caledonia. Town Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Museum of World War II or the Museum of New Caledonia: just take your pick or visit them all! For a more nature-oriented outing, see the Zoological and Forest Park located further north. Elegantly perched on a hill, the Park hosts an amazing diversity of endemic species. As you walk through gorgeous scenery, you will discover splendid fauna and flora. Kids and adults alike will assuredly have a great time. Cradled between Nouméa’s famous bays, the Aquarium des Lagons is a must-see. Discover the country’s underwater treasures to the sound of visitors oohing and ahhing over a scorpion fish or fluorescent corals. If you want to be part of the Caledonian paradisiac dream, don’t wait any longer to book your flight to Noumea.

Nouméa, a charming capital

Nouméa is an incredibly charming and endearing city where locals are friendly and welcoming. The best place to get a feel for the warmth of Nouméa’s multi-ethnic community is probably the Moselle Market. Located nearby the marina, it is always lively and colorful. Mix with the early crowd and experience quintessential market fervor. As you walk down the aisles, have fun looking for a bargain amidst a profusion of sweet-scented tropical fruits, crispy vegetables, fresh fish and seafood. Plenty of local handicrafts and souvenirs can also be found here.

A cultural diversity

If you’re looking for an excursion around the lagoon –or around one of many splendid isles- head for the nearby marina. Several catamarans and taxi boats depart daily. Nouméa counts two major beaches: Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata. They are both very popular and elegantly hemmed with chic boutiques, souvenir shops, bars and restaurants. You will love wandering about beautiful promenades, grabbing a tasty bite to eat or sipping on a cocktail as the sun sets. Nouméa is very proud of its multicultural heritage, which many talented chefs sublimate in succulent dishes with an adamant French touch!
